About this event
NATURE DAYS AT PHILO!
Each month we'll host a nature day where you can come and enjoy being outside, exploring with friends and get back to the basics of childhood play. Over the last decade, experts and studies continue to report with grave warning that "kids are losing out on play." Free, unstructured and imaginative play.
This monthly gathering is one small way to combat that by providing a place and set time for people to regularly get out and play! This is for ALL kids, so middle and high schoolers are more than welcome. We have volleyball nets, footballs, frisbees and kickballs in addition to a pond, woods and animals. You're welcome to bring your bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc. And don't forget a blanket or lawn chair!
Please note: This event is screen free for kids and adults , so parents and caregivers, please keep that in mind. Bring your planners, books, crochet, or whatever other analog activity you want to do. Consider this your monthly "re-connection" time.
While this is purposed to be unstructured time, each month, I'll have a very short activity for any student that wants to be involved (please be sure to RSVP for the month you're coming). The activites will be brief so there's plenty of opportunity for the kids to simply play and enjoy themselves, but each activity will have a nature component that helps students (and adults if you'd like) connect with the natural world to boost creativity, imagination and wonder.
NOTE: This is not a drop off. All parents are responsible for their children, unless they designate someone else to watch them. We do have a pond, so please keep that in mind if there's any concern regarding your kids. Feel free to bring your own snacks, we also have bathrooms and a fridge available to you.
